George II Cast Silver Candlesticks
London 1747
Edward Sieber
Height: 21.5cm
Weight:43oz
£2450
Ernest Sieber - Only mark entered as large worker in Walkers Court near Crown Court, old Soho St. James. His work is very rare and seems almost confined to cast candlesticks. No record of apprenticeship and his name suggests a German origin, if so, he was of an itinerant nature, since by 1752 he was in The Hague, where he produced a pair of figure candlesticks to match a previous pair bearing his mark in London in 1748.
