Hester Bateman "Duty Dodger" Silver Salt Shovel
London circa 1780 Hester Bateman Double Struck Makers mark Duty Dodger Length: 10cm SOLD
Duty dodger items have the makers mark struck four times to replicate full hallmarks. This would have been done to avoid paying the duty on the silver, maybe used to barter, give as presents or for the makers own use.

London 1701 John Cory Length: 19cm SOLD
John Cory was born in Warminster, Wiltshire in 1665 and was admitted to the Goldsmith's Company by patrimony in 1687. John carried on his father's business in Warminster after Thomas Cory's death in 1689.
