Interesting South African Emmigration Engraving

"Presented by the Passengers of the Edwd Oliver to Capt. J Baker
as a mark of respect 1858"

Ilustrated London News 1858 announced :

The ship Edward Oliver, Captain Baker, 1166 tons register, sailed on Saturday last from Liverpool, with 481 emigrants on board for Table Bay .
These emigrants are composed of English, Scotch and Irish, of various trades, a fair proportion of them being domestic and farm servants, and have sent out by Mr Field, who is conducting the emigration to the Cape.
