 | Elizabeth Auriol Peers
Elizabeth Auriol Peers recently graduated from London Metropolitan University, where she completed her BA(Hons) Silversmithing and Jewellery. She then went to Bishopsland post-graduate training workshops where she gained from master classes, tutorial time and the community. She is concentrating on developing her work together with her design philosophy to produce pieces with character that encompass and reflect the essence and feelings rooted in her inspirations. Elizabeth is currently doing a work placement in Schoonhoven, Holland, and has exhibited at the V & A, Edinburgh and Finland. "I wish to produce functional silverware that reflects serious intent together with a certain playfulness. The human form and its persona are what I seek to express in the curves, bulges, folds and undulations of my pieces. I am also frequently grasped by the oddities in life and my eye is often captured, not only by the bodies I see around me but by a simple wavering line, a crooked rooftop or an object in a strange place. To me these things have been given character and an aura. This is what I want from my pieces too." I believe silverware should be held and caressed. The owner of a piece of mine should imbue a little of themselves within that piece and treasure it.
Elizabeth had an excellent show with us and we are keeping in contact with her. Having finished at Bishopsland she is currently continuing her evolvement in Holland for a year. This summer she exhibited a new piece at the Victoria and Albert Museum and spent some time working with Malcolm Appleby.
Elizabeth is happy to undertake commissions.
