Calligraphy by Madelaine Dinkel ARCA MSIA FSDC

John Sutherland-Hawes told me: 'The paperweight: although it bears the Aurum hallmark, it was not an Aurum product and should not be included in your list. I had made for my son to give to the headmaster of his primary school when he left. (It's possible there was a second one for my son's housemaster at his next school - but I don't remember.) The inscription came from "The Universal Penman" by George Bickham. In full it reads "He most improves who studies with delight / and learns sound morals as he learns to write". Yes, Madeleine Dinkel was the calligrapher, but I've no recollection who made it'

(I have included it in this listing as it bears the Am mark for completeness
If anyone has an example of this can you please let me know)
