GRAHAM STEWART was born in Scotland in 1955, and died in 2020. Initially apprenticed to Norman Grant before studying at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen. In 1976 he was a finalist in the Young Designer of the Year competition and gained his Diploma the following year. He spent time with Roger Doyle in London and Malcolm Appleby in his workshop at Crathes before setting up his own premises in Dunblane. From 1986 he made trips south to exhibit at Goldsmiths' Fair each year. Commissions include a mace for St. Mary's Metropolitan Cathedral in Edinburgh and Honours of Scotland, a sculpture presented by The Queen to the Scottish Parliament when it opened at Holyrood in 2004. His jugs of all sizes and internally engraved bowls are in a class of their own.
