Gerald Benney came into our shop sometime ago and I asked him about his design work for Viners. He showed me the base of one of the pieces we had in stock and he said: 'They paid me all that money and couldn't even spell my name correctly!' (All Viners pieces engraved Benny to base)

A rare box made in the workshop of Gerald Benney by his two enamellers: Robert Winter and Alan Evans bearing the mark they jointly registered W&E. Very little was made by this partnership with their own mark. Most of the enamel work with Gerald Benney's mark was made by either Winter or Evans.

The Prince of Wales and a consortium endeavored to save Dumfries House in Ayrshire, for the nation. The Palladian House contains one of the most important collections of Chippendale furniture and works of art. After considerable fund raising the house was saved.
