DAVID MELLOR had graduated from the RCA in 1954 and was appointed a design consultant for WALKER & HALL. Professor ROBERT GOODEN, Head of Silver & Jewellery at the Royal College of Art who had taught MELLOR, considered this appointment as the highlight of the mid 1950's. Although no designs have been found for this, his wife Fiona McCarthy and son Corin Mellor have confirmed that the basic design for these follows his thoughts on this early period and that the double skinned handles also points to these being designed by him

Gerald Benney studied at the Brighton College of Art from 1946-48 under DUNSTAN PRUDEN (Gerald's father Sallis Benney was Principal)
ANTHONY ELSON studied under Pruden there in 1955 and he told me: '
'The first thing that Pruden asked his full time students to make was a small bowl. This involved raising, planishing and shaping.'

ANGELA PRUDEN (born 1937) was DUNSTAN PRUDEN's daughter and initially taught by him before studying at Brighton College of Art and also had an interest in sculpture. She worked for her father before going to live at Piggotts, Eric Gill's alternative community near Hugh Wycombe. Here she met Phillip Lowery (born 1937) in 1960 and married a year later. He became interested in silver and worked for George Grant for 2 years before they both moved to Gloucestershire and worked together producing domestic and ecclesiastical silver, always hand raised. Phillip had a serious motor accident in 1985 and stopped working as a silversmith
