 Each cup is made from sixteen separately formed pieces of silver and set with five 8carat cabochon topaz

 1975 was a notable year in the history of the Fitzwilliam Museum The new extension was completed and the first exhibition held there was opened by Her Majesty the Queen Mother in July. The exhibition was Cambridge Plate spanning seven centuries including examples from their own collection and pieces on loan. This cup was included demonstrating that the arts of designing and making fine silver still flourishes.
