Flow lines of textured silver wires spring from end to end to create the structure of the domed open-work lid These individually shaped wires, in compound curved lines, are fused together at intervals to shape the distinctive sculptural and tactile form of the oval box. Leaf-like spatial voids between the wires add to a sense of dynamic movement which is at the core of the design concept. The delicate open-work lid, a push fit on the body, is mounted within a substantial supporting rim. This element should be grasped when opening and closing the box lid. Flowing textured wires are shaped and contoured to the profile of the lid curvature, then secured together by stainless steel binding wires prior to the soldering process. There are 100 soldering operations required to complete the project.
