Kenneth W Lessons - born 1933 studied at Sheffield College of Art before attending the Royal College of Art.
Opened own studio in 1957 and immediately received important commissions, including a mace to be presented by the Queen Mother

This pen tray was designed and made by Lessons but bears the sponsor's mark TJB. Lessons hadn’t yet registered a maker's mark. While researching my book - British Designer Silversmiths at the library at Goldsmiths' Hall, I discovered an image of this piece in Lessons’ folder.
(
Thomas J Boucher 1897-1988 was the resident craftsman at the Royal College of Art for many years)

A stunning 1950's design superbly executed
