Following on from Hanoverian came Plain Old English which was very popular from 1760 to 1800. The forks were now four pronged and the end of the spoon turned down instead of up so that they could be crested or initialed on the front. This remains one of the most popular patterns as it can be used equally well in a modern or antique setting.
